Air Volume Can Matter More Than the Headline Speed
Air speed tells you how fast the air is moving. Air volume tells you how much air the blower is pushing. For a wide layer of leaves, volume can be especially useful because you are trying to move more material at once rather than attack one small point.
At 16.5 m³/min, this 48V model has considerably more published air volume than the 40V 177 km/h handheld blower, which is rated at 11.05 m³/min and weighs 2.33 kg. The 40V model makes sense when lower weight and routine clearing are the priority. The 48V blower is the more natural fit when you want to push a broader row of debris and keep it moving.
That does not make 217 km/h unimportant. Air speed still helps when leaves are caught in grass, lodged along an edge or slightly damp. The point is that the 16.5 m³/min figure explains why this blower can be useful even though its peak speed is not the highest in the range.
A practical way to use it is to start with a wider sweep. Work across the lawn in overlapping passes and move the leaves in one direction. If you begin by chasing individual leaves at full power, you lose the advantage of having a blower that can move a larger volume of air.
Save the Concentrator Nozzle for Stubborn Patches
Wet leaves and compacted debris need a different approach from a dry layer spread across open ground. This is where the concentrator nozzle earns its place.
The nozzle directs the airflow into a more focused stream for leaves that are clinging to paving, sitting in a damp patch of grass or trapped against an edge. Cruise control is useful on longer passes because it holds a steady setting without keeping constant pressure on the trigger. Turbo can then stay as a short-term tool for the sections that actually need it. This is more useful than treating every control feature as another reason to run the blower at maximum output.
Plan the Garden in Zones Around the Published Runtime
Greenworks publishes a maximum runtime figure of 15 minutes with 4Ah for this blower. The tool itself uses two 24V batteries, so that figure is best treated as the official planning benchmark rather than a promise that every clearing session will last exactly the same amount of time.
Before starting a larger job, split the garden into zones. Clear the lawn first, then the paths, then tighter edges or beds. That gives you natural stopping points and makes it easier to decide where cruise control is enough and where turbo is worth using.
If you already own compatible Greenworks 24V batteries, the tool-only version avoids buying another battery set. If you are starting without batteries, a 217 km/h kit with two 2Ah batteries and a charger gives you a battery-included alternative.
The important point is to choose the package around the batteries you actually have, not around a theoretical runtime calculation. Workload, power setting and debris condition all change how demanding a clearing session is.
Where This 48V Blower Fits Best
This model makes most sense when the job is mainly about moving leaves rather than collecting them, and when broad airflow matters more than owning the lightest possible handheld blower.
For still larger areas, the 48V backpack blower raises published air volume to 19.82 m³/min and shifts the carrying load onto a backpack harness. That is a different format for longer clearing routes rather than a straight upgrade for every garden.
At the other end of the decision, if you want to blow leaves into a pile and then collect and reduce them, the 48V blower/vacuum adds vacuuming, a 40L collection bag and 10:1 mulching.
The 217 km/h blower sits between those jobs. Its strength is not a record-setting speed figure. It is the combination of 16.5 m³/min airflow, handheld control and a concentrator nozzle that lets you switch between wide-area movement and focused cleanup without changing tools.
