The Harness Matters More as the Route Gets Longer
A backpack blower does not make 4.98 kg disappear. What it changes is where that weight sits.
On a short patio or a quick pass along a driveway, a compact handheld model can be simpler to pick up and put away. Over a longer route, repeatedly supporting a blower with your arm can become a bigger part of the job. The backpack harness distributes the machine across the shoulders and back, leaving your hand to guide the airflow rather than carry the complete tool.

Start at the outside of the lawn and work inward or toward a chosen collection area. On long paths, work progressively down the route rather than blowing debris ahead and then repeatedly walking back through the same section. Broad airflow is most useful when your movement and the airflow direction are working together.
The 297 km/h maximum air speed still matters when leaves are caught in grass or sitting in heavier patches, but it is not the only performance number worth watching. For comparison, the 386 km/h 48V blower reaches a higher published air speed but a lower 12.05 m³/min air volume. That makes the choice less about which figure is simply larger and more about whether your job rewards concentrated speed or broad-area airflow.
Set the Controls for the Section You Are Clearing
Longer jobs are easier to manage when maximum output is not your default setting.
The variable-speed trigger lets you reduce airflow around borders, furniture or loose material, then increase it as you reach open lawn. Cruise control is useful on longer uninterrupted passes because it can hold a steady blowing speed without constant trigger pressure. Turbo is there for the stubborn section that actually needs maximum performance.
The blower also uses Greenworks Quiet Force technology, which is designed to reduce noise levels without compromising blowing performance. On a long route, there is little reason to use turbo while walking between debris patches or clearing an area that is already moving easily at a lower setting.
A simple pattern works well: variable speed for precise sections, cruise for the long runs, turbo for short difficult patches. That gives each control a specific job rather than turning the session into one continuous maximum-power pass.
Plan the Route Before You Start Blowing
With a large garden, good routing can save as much frustration as extra power.
Choose where the leaves are going before you begin. If they will be collected separately, move them toward a few sensible piles rather than one distant point that forces you to keep pushing the same material across the whole property. Clear narrow routes and obstacles first, then use the open lawn for longer sweeping passes.
The included two 8Ah batteries give you a complete dual-24V setup, but Greenworks does not publish a fixed runtime for this backpack kit on the product page. Treat the battery capacity as planning context rather than converting it into a promised number of minutes.
If your jobs are shorter and you would rather use a handheld machine with a smaller included battery set, the 217 km/h version with two 4Ah batteries and a charger is a more compact kit route.
There is also a different question entirely: do you only need to move the leaves, or do you want the machine to collect them? The 48V blower/vacuum adds vacuuming and a 40L collection bag for a blow-then-collect workflow.
The backpack blower earns its extra size when the route itself is the challenge. If you are covering broad ground, walking for longer stretches and repeatedly moving wide bands of leaves, the harness and 19.82 m³/min airflow address that job directly. For quick clear-ups or tighter spaces, a handheld format may simply be the better-sized tool.
