When Tool-Only Is a Logical Upgrade
Owning compatible 24V batteries changes the value of this blower more than a small difference in headline price.
The machine needs two 24V batteries at the same time. If you already have a pair available from other POWERALL tools, the tool-only version lets you reuse that battery platform instead of starting again with a new set. Greenworks states that the blower runs on its 24V batteries and supplies this SKU without batteries.
If you do not already have a suitable pair, compare the complete cost rather than treating tool-only as automatically cheaper. The 386 km/h version with two 4Ah batteries and a charger uses the same published 386 km/h, 12.05 m³/min and 4.65 kg blower specification, but arrives as a working battery package.
That makes the tool-only model most attractive when the batteries are already part of your garden setup. It is less convincing if buying it immediately creates a separate battery-shopping job.
Choose Between Concentrated Speed and Broader Airflow
A high maximum air speed does not automatically mean a blower will be best at every type of clearing.
This model reaches 386 km/h while moving 12.05 m³/min of air. That profile is useful when debris needs a strong, concentrated push: damp leaves stuck to paving, material sitting in grass, or a compacted edge that resists a gentler pass.
Greenworks also sells a 48V blower rated at 217 km/h with a higher published air-volume figure. That is a useful contrast. The 217 km/h model puts more emphasis on moving a broader body of air, while the 386 km/h model puts more emphasis on peak air speed.
For a thin carpet of dry leaves across open lawn, broader airflow can be valuable because the job is about moving a wide front. For wet or stubborn material, higher speed can help break the patch free before you continue the sweep.
This is why the choice should be based on the debris, not just on which number is larger. A garden that produces dense, wet leaf patches may reward the 386 km/h profile more often than one where the main task is moving dry leaves across a large open area.
Use Cruise and Boost for Different Parts of the Job
The 386 km/h figure is a maximum, not a recommended setting for every metre of the garden.
Start with the variable-speed trigger and use only enough airflow to keep the debris moving. On a long path or open run where conditions remain consistent, cruise control can hold the chosen airflow without constant trigger pressure. Greenworks specifically positions cruise control as a way to reduce hand fatigue during longer work.
Boost belongs to the stubborn section. If damp leaves are stuck against an edge or a pile has compacted, use the extra output to loosen that material, then return to the normal setting once it starts moving.
That sequence is more practical than keeping the blower at maximum output from start to finish. It also gives the controls distinct jobs: variable speed for adjustment, cruise for steady passes and boost for short resistance points.
The blower weighs 4.65 kg before batteries are added, so handling should also be part of the decision. If your clearing is mostly around steps, furniture or very small spaces, the 24V pistol blower is a very different format: 209 km/h, 7.65 m³/min and a much more compact body. It is not a substitute for the 386 km/h blower on heavier work; it shows what you give up and gain when precision matters more than high-output clearing.
Fit the Blower Into the Battery System You Actually Use
Existing batteries are only an advantage if they are available when the blower needs them.
Because this 48V machine runs on two 24V batteries, think about whether those packs are regularly tied up in another tool. If the same batteries are also used for mowing or trimming on the same day, the order of jobs and charging routine may matter more than simply owning compatible packs.

The tool-only version earns its place when both parts of the decision line up: the batteries are already available, and 386 km/h is the airflow profile your actual clearing jobs can use.
