Long Reach Pole Saw Positioning Before the First Cut
A long reach pole saw is most useful when the branch is assessed before the cutting head is raised into position. Consider the branch height, the space beneath it and the available working angle. The aim is to use the reach needed for that particular cut rather than extending the tool as far as possible by default.
The 20cm head reinforces this selective approach. As a pole pruner, the tool is intended for individual branch work, so clear access and cutting-head position matter alongside reach. Removing one obstructing branch may also improve the approach to another, making it useful to reassess the area as pruning progresses.
If a simpler 24V battery-included setup suits the work and the Gen II 20cm format is not essential, the pole saw pruning kit provides a different starting setup. The current model is more relevant when the 20cm Gen II configuration and supplied 2Ah battery are both part of what you need.
Extendable Pole Saw Storage, Transport and Reach Adjustment Between Jobs
An extendable pole saw affects more than the cutting position. Additional reach also changes how the tool is moved between work areas and stored after pruning. Adjusting the pole to suit the job keeps unnecessary length out of the working setup when full reach is not required, while the three-piece design allows a more compact arrangement for storage.
Battery ownership creates another practical distinction. If compatible Greenworks 24V batteries and charging equipment are already available, the Gen II tool-only telescoping pole saw keeps the same 24V and 20cm format without adding another battery kit.
The battery platform can change the choice as well. A 40V Gen II pole pruner saw also combines a 20cm cutting head with a battery-included package, but it uses the Greenworks 40V system rather than POWERALL 24V.
The current 24V Gen II kit fits most naturally where higher branches require dedicated reach, a 20cm cutting head suits the pruning work and a compatible battery still needs to be supplied. If the battery platform is already established, a tool-only version may provide the same basic cutting format without duplicating power equipment.
